Turk's Cove

Turk’s Cove is a small community between New Perlican and Winterton. It was perhaps visited by Barbary pirate ships, and got its name because the settlers called the pirates "Turks".

Winterton Days - 2nd week in July

Winterton, once known as Scilly Cove, has headstones dating back to the 1700s. The name was changed to Winterton in 1912 to honor a former Newfoundland Prime Minister, Sir James S. Winter.

The Winterton Boat Building Museum celebrates the skill and ingenuity of Winteron's boat builders. The facility has full-size boats, constructed and used in the town, plus all the tools employed to build and sail them.
