Youth Employment Services
The Baccalieu Trail Youth Employment Centre is an initiative of Mariner Resource Opportunities Network Inc. (M-RON) and is funded by the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Labour Market Development Agreement. The mandate of the Baccalieu Trail Youth Employment Centre is to deliver a full range of career and employment related services to youth, ages 15-30, with a focus on those facing multiple barriers to employment. These services include Youth Employment Counselling, a Career and Employment Information Resource Centre, Group Information Sessions, and many more additional services.
Youth Employment Counselling
Youth can meet with a Youth Employment Counsellor to discuss their career and employment goals. We can help you develop your own personal action plan! Our services include career decision making, skills enhancement, job search, employment maintenance, or any other career and employment need of your choice.
Also, we understand that travel can be a barrier for many youth. Therefore, we offer Outreach Services which means our Youth Employment Counsellors can meet with you in a location that is more convenient and closer to your community.
Career and Employment Information Resource Centre
The Baccalieu Trail Youth Employment Centre offers a Career and Employment Information Resource Centre. We have four (4) computers available that are Internet accessible which you can use to research job opportunities, labour market information, or anything else that is career and employment related. Our Career and Employment Information Resource Centre also features the programs “Career Cruising” and “WinWay Resume Delux.” Free photocopy and fax services are available along with a Resource Library which contains a wide assortment of printed literature on career planning, resume writing, job search, and much more.
Group Information Sessions
We provide career and employment related Group Information Sessions that are available to any youth group or organization. Sessions can be held at the Baccalieu Trail Youth Employment Centre or at an alternate location. Topics can include but are not limited to: Baccalieu Trail Youth Employment Centre Programs and Services, Career Planning, Job Search Strategies, Resume/Cover Letter Preparation, Interview Skills, Pre-Employment Preparation, Volunteerism, or any other career related topic.
Additional Services
In addition to our core services, we also provide a number of additional services to youth. They include:
- Keeping youth informed of upcoming programs, activities, and workshops
- Connecting youth with other local, regional, provincial, and federal youth programs and services
- Offering a job board where youth can check out employment opportunities
- Assisting youth with preparing or updating their resume and cover letter
- Helping youth practice mock interviews and learning interview tips
- Connecting employers looking to fill positions with potential employees
- Free advertising for employers on our job board

Mariner Resource Opportunities Network Inc. (M-RON) has expanded its youth programming! The Baccalieu Trail Youth Employment Centre (BTYEC) is operated and managed by M-RON Inc. and funded by Service Canada through the Employment Assistance Services (EAS) Component of the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Labour Market Development Agreement.
The BTYEC provides career and employment services to youth, ages 16-30. Youth can access a wide range of services including meeting with a Youth Employment Counsellor to discuss future career goals and to develop their own personal action plan. Also, the BTYEC offers a Computer Information Resource Centre which features computer and Internet access, fax and photocopy services, and a library of printed resource materials. Other available services include:
- Stay informed of upcoming programs, activities, and workshops
- Check out employment opportunities on our job board
- Prepare a resume have your current resume critiqued
- Learn how to ace an interview
- Get connected with other youth programs and services
- Use our fax, photocopier, and Internet access
Youth can avail of services Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you cannot travel to the BTYEC, contact a Youth Employment Counsellor at 596-3700 or through our website www.btyec.ca to make an appointment in your area.
